Runa Workshop is unveiling their latest design for the Austin Aquatic Center which will be located at the Northwest corner of Cesar Chavez and Lamar. The design is meant to be a transitional feature into the urban core which will be a public space used for competitions, concerts, and other events. With its proximity to the Town Lake running trail, it will be a great feature which allows people to run, bike, and swim in Downtown Austin . The building design that Runa Workshop provided was drawn from their early site analysis and work with the YMCA of Austin. The design team includes: Runa Workshop, DWG., Big Red Dog, MJ Structures, Bay & Associates, HOLOS Collaborative, Water Design. There’s no completion date for the Austin Aquatic Center. According to their twitter description, the Runa workshop is a collaborative design practice focused on architecture, interiors, and product design.
